Brampton, Monday April 5, 2010. The Optimist Club of Brampton will hold its 22nd Annual Junior Qualifying Golf Tourney at Castlemore Golf & Country Club on Sunday, June 6, 2010. All youth (boys and girls) aged 10-18 can compete. Eighteen-year-olds must not turn 19 before August 2, 2010. Age groups for competition are as follows:

   10-11 Years
   12-13 Years
   14-15 Years
   16-18 Years

NEW THIS YEAR: PLAYING UP INTO THE 10-11 DIVISION
Male and female golfers who are nine years old as of July 26, 2010 may "play up" into the 10-11 division, and are now eligible to advance to the international championships.

A winner will receive a trophy in each age group provided there are a minimum of six players in the age group. The top golfer in each age group will also be sent to the Central Ontario District Tourney to be held on Monday, June 21, 2010 at Caledon Country Club in Caledon. The top two scorers in the 16-18 group at Caledon will qualify for an all expenses-paid trip to the Optimist International Junior Golf Championships to be held July 22 – August 1, 2010 at the PGA National Resort in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida. The category winners on June 21, 2010 in the other age groups may also qualify, at their own expense, for the Florida tourney, based on their scores at Caledon.

Cost for Brampton residents is $50.00 per golfer, which includes 18 holes, lunch, awards banquet, and prizes. The registration is limited to the first 40 golfers from the Brampton area who submit paid registrations. Deadline for registrations is Friday, May 28, 2010.
